Meet the Doctors
David Shen, DMD
Dr. Shen received his Bachelor of Science degree at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine and his Certificate of Orthodontic Specialty from the University of Pennsylvania in 1981. He is a member of the Board of Overseers at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International.
Dr. Shen, who has over 25 years of experience in the exclusive practice of orthodontics, has become recognized as one of the top five most experienced Invisalign® doctors in the world and is a member of the Align Century Club. He served as a faculty member at UCSF. He lectures internationally and has been invited to speak at the American Association of Orthodontists' Annual Convention many times.
Dr. Shen has served as President of the Northern California Asian Dental Association. He was Chairman of the Membership Committee of the San Mateo County Dental Society. He is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists and the California Dental Association.
Dr. Shen is married with two children. He enjoys photography, water sports and traveling.
Barbara Yee, DDS, MS
Dr. Yee received her Bachelor of Science degree and her Doctorate in Dental Surgery at the University of California San Francisco. She earned her Certificate of Orthodontic Specialty and Master of Science degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She has completed Phase II of the American Board of Orthodontics certification.
Dr. Yee has done extensive research on the architecture of the mandibular bone. Her papers are published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and the Journal of Dental Research.
Dr. Yee is a member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the Contra Costa Dental Society.
Dr. Yee is a San Francisco Bay Area native and enjoys ballroom dancing, bicycling and hiking.
Yi-Chen Liu, DDS, MS
Dr. Liu has a B.S. degree in Biochemistry earned from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery from Columbia University in New York, she went to the University of Illinois in Chicago and earned her M.S. in Oral Sciences and a Certificate in Orthodontics. She has since become licensed in two states: Illinois and California.
Being Board Eligible for the American Board of Orthodontics, Dr. Liu is also a member of the American and California Association of Orthodontists. She is affiliated with the World Federation of Orthodontists and a member of the American, California and Santa Clara County Dental Societies. During her years in the study and practice of dentistry and orthodontics, Dr. Liu has earned many honors for excellence and achievements.
The ability to speak three languages (English, Chinese and Spanish) is yet another attribute. Aside from her dedication to her career in orthodontics, Dr. Liu also likes to travel, goes to the theatre and enjoys reading.
Dr. Vincent Khang
Dr. Vincent Khang is originally from Ontario, Canada and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto. He went on to complete his dental education at New York University where he graduated with honors. Upon graduation, Dr. Khang pursued orthodontic specialty training at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and earned his Master of Science in Oral Biology and Certificate in Orthodontics. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists and California Dental Association. To ensure that his patients are provided with the best care, Dr. Khang strives to be current with new developments in orthodontics through continuing education courses and events.
Dr. Khang admires the natural beauty of the west coast and exploring all that it has to offer. In their free time, Dr. Khang and his wife enjoy cooking, traveling and hiking.
Ricardo Busquets, DMD
Dr. Busquets received his Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2005, graduating with honors. He then completed his Orthodontic residency at Jacksonville University after being awarded the top honor as Most Outstanding Resident Clinician. Additionally, Dr. Busquets obtained a Master’s Degree in Sports Medicine with an emphasis in Physiology.
Dr. Busquets specializes in Early Treatment in Orthodontics in order to correct asymmetrical growing patterns and facial imbalances. He was also formally trained in the use of Micro Implant devices to be used as anchorage for faster, more accurate treatment.
Outside of the office Dr. Busquets is a four-time Olympian swimmer, competing in the 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games. He was also a three-time Collegiate champion as well as a two-time World Championship medalist.
Dr. Busquets is married with three children, plays guitar, and loves the beach and the outdoors.
Sarah S. Yoon, DMD
Dr. Sarah S. Yoon is originally from Portland Oregon, her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology is from Oregon State University. She received her dental training from the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated with honors, and went on to earn her certificate in Orthodontics. Dr. Yoon is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
Dr. Yoon has been awarded many honors based on academic and clinical excellence in dentistry. Her research from residency, “Craniofacial growth of untreated Class I and Class II females: a longitudinal study” won the Penn Orthodontic research award, and is currently under review for publication.
Prior to studying orthodontics, Dr. Yoon practiced general dentistry for four years, working with predominantly Spanish-speaking patients. Through her work experience, and her studies abroad, she is able to treat the English, Korean, and Spanish-speaking communities at OrthoWorks.
Apart from improving her patient’s smiles, Dr. Yoon loves to travel, cook and explore the Bay area with her husband, Kevin.
Dr. Katherine M. Zhang DMD, MS
Dr. Katherine Zhang is passionate about helping her patients, both children and adults, find their very best unique smile.
Dr. Zhang grew up in the beautiful city of Montreal, Canada and earned her Doctorate in Dental Medicine from McGill University. Graduating with honors, she received multiple awards for her professionalism and exceptionally fine doctor-patient relationship. Following graduation, she furthered her training in general dentistry at University of Connecticut where she worked closely with veterans and underserved populations. To pursue an exclusive practice of orthodontics, Dr. Zhang then attended University of Pennsylvania and obtained a Master of Science in Oral Biology and Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
Dr. Zhang is fluent in French and Chinese. When she is not chasing after the snaggletooth, she enjoys traveling and learning about different cultures.
Stacy Law, DDS MS
Dr. Stacey Law has been a practicing orthodontist since 1993. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics from UC Davis, received her dental degree from UCLA and completed her orthodontic residency and master’s degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry and Graduate School. She remains active in her field and maintains memberships with such prestigious organizations as the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, California Dental Association, Santa Clara County Dental Society, Foothill Dental Study Club, Transbay Orthodontic Study Group, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists and the California Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. Law is actively involved in her community and has a volunteer clinical faculty position with the Craniofacial Anomalies Clinic at the Lucile Saltar Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford University Medical Center. Away from the office, Dr. Law enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, Derek and Sara, and likes running and playing tennis. Dr. Law is dedicated to helping her patients achieve and maintain a beautiful, healthy-looking smile!
Dr. Joan Lowe-Ching, DMD
Dr. Lowe-Ching is a graduate of McMaster University in Canada where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences and Molecular Biology. She earned her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania and then practiced hospital dentistry during her General Practice Residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. Later she continued her education by earning her Certificate in Orthodontics from Howard University in Washington, DC.
With Dr. Joan Lowe-Ching extensive education she is dedicated to providing excellent patient care to patients of all ages, including early interceptive treatment to complex restorative cases. She also prides herself in providing an individualized treatment plan for each patient to improve his/her smile, facial appearance, and function. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists and Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists.
When she is not helping her patient smile, Dr. Lowe-Ching enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants and spending time with her family and friends.
